About the author

Meet Shna Jawhar

Shna Jawhar's love of stories began long before she ever dreamed of writing books of her own.

As a little girl, she would sit and listen to the wonderful stories told by her Kurdish grandmother. Filled with adventure, wisdom, humour, and imagination, those stories opened a door to magical worlds and sparked a lifelong love of storytelling that has stayed with her ever since.

Although she had built a career as a lawyer, storytelling was always the dream that stayed quietly in her heart.

Today, Shna draws inspiration from her Kurdish roots, her childhood memories in London, and the children who fill her life with laughter, questions, and endless ideas. Each of her children, nieces, and nephew brings a unique personality and perspective, from dreamers and adventurers to inventors, animal lovers, explorers, and curious question askers. Their imaginations continue to inspire many of the stories she creates.

Through her books, Shna hopes to share the same sense of wonder she felt as a child listening to her grandmother's stories. Her stories celebrate imagination, kindness, courage, family, friendship, and the beauty of growing up surrounded by love.

She believes that every child deserves stories that help them dream a little bigger, laugh a little louder, and treasure the people and traditions that make them who they are.
